Ketoprofen is a propionic acid-class non-steroidal anti-inflammatory active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), supplied as a white crystalline powder. It is a racemic mixture; the S-enantiomer contributes the main pharmacological activity.
Ketoprofen API is used to manufacture oral capsules, tablets, topical gels, patches and other formulations. It is indicated for symptomatic relief of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, soft tissue injuries, postoperative pain, primary dysmenorrhea, toothache and fever. It features good skin penetration and is widely adopted in transdermal preparations.
Ketoprofen can be used to relieve mild to moderate pain, including dental pain, menstrual pain, migraines, neuropathic pain, postoperative pain, and osteoarthritis. It is also used to treat pain caused by rheumatic diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, and acute gout.
Ketoprofen exerts anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. It is suitable for treating joint swelling and pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and other inflammatory conditions.
Ketoprofen has antipyretic properties and can be used to reduce fever caused by infections or inflammation.
Ketoprofen is also available in forms such as patches for topical use, which can help relieve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and other related conditions.
