Imidazole (CAS 288-32-4) is an important nitrogen-containing heterocyclic intermediate. It is widely used as a building block for azole antifungal APIs and agrochemical fungicides. Also applied as epoxy resin curing agent, copper corrosion inhibitor in electronic industry. In biochemistry, it serves as buffer component and eluent for His-tag protein purification in IMAC chromatography.
Imidazole is a key component in the synthesis of many biologically active compounds, including antifungal medications and histidine(e.g. miconazole, econazole, clotrimazole and ketoconazole). It is also the intermediate of ardiovascular drug.
IMZ is used for the synthesis of certain pesticide intermediates.
Imidazole serves as a curing agent for epoxy resins.
It is used in organic synthesis, such as for the preparation of N,N'-carbonyldiimidazole.
IMZ is used for protein elution and reverse staining in SDS-PAGE, as well as for the titration of aspartic acid and glutamic acid, and the determination of cobalt.
