Imidazole is a heterocyclic organic compound with a five-membered aromatic ring containing two nitrogen atoms. It is an important chemical structure found in naturally occurring compounds such as histidine and histamine, as well as in pharmaceuticals and industrial applications.
Application
1.Pharmaceuticals
Imidazole is a key component in the synthesis of many biologically active compounds, including antifungal medications and histidine(e.g. miconazole, econazole, clotrimazole and ketoconazole). It is also the intermediate of ardiovascular drug.
2.Agricultural Field
IMZ is used for the synthesis of certain pesticide intermediates.
3.Industrial Applications
Imidazole serves as a curing agent for epoxy resins.
4.Chemical Synthesis
It is used in organic synthesis, such as for the preparation of N,N'-carbonyldiimidazole.
5.Biochemistry
IMZ is used for protein elution and reverse staining in SDS-PAGE, as well as for the titration of aspartic acid and glutamic acid, and the determination of cobalt.
6.Electronics
Ionic liquids: Electrolyte component in batteries/fuel cells.
Storage Conditions
Store in a cool, dry place. Store in a tightly closed container.
Stability and Reactivity
Chemical Stability: Stable under normal temperatures and pressures.
Conditions to Avoid: Incompatible materials, dust generation.
Incompatibilities with Other Materials: Strong oxidizing agents, acids, acid chlorides.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ammonia.
