Synthesis Method
1-Octen-3-one is used as the starting material and is oxidized using 2-iodoxybenzoic acid as the oxidizing agent in ethyl acetate solvent. The reaction is carried out under reflux conditions for 16 hours to obtain 1-octen-3-one with a yield of 79%.
Storage
Keep in tightly sealed, dark glass bottles under inert gas (sensitive to oxidation)
