Applications and Uses

• Food Industry:

• Preservative and Antimicrobial Agent: Its primary use is as a natural mold and yeast inhibitor in food products like cheese, baked goods, and wrappings. It is effective against microorganisms like Candida albicans.

• Flavor and Fragrance Agent: Used to impart a creamy or dairy-like note in foods and beverages.

• Component of MCT Oil: A key constituent of Medium-Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil, popular in sports nutrition and ketogenic diets for its rapid metabolism.

• Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Industries:

• Dietary Supplements: Marketed for its potential antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and energy-boosting properties.

• Excipient: Used in the production of esters (e.g., glyceryl monocaprylate) that serve as emulsifiers, lubricants, or penetration enhancers in drug formulations.

• Personal Care and Cosmetics:

• Used as an emulsifying agent, surfactant, and emollient in soaps, lotions, and perfumes. Its sodium salt (sodium caprylate) is a common ingredient in soap-making.

Handling:

        Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. 

        Use only in a well-ventilated area. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. 

        Keep container tightly closed. Do not ingest or inhale. 

        Use with adequate ventilation. Discard contaminated shoes.

Storage:

        Keep container closed when not in use. Store in a tightly closed container. 

        Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Corrosives area.
