L(+)-Tartaric Acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C₄H₆O₆ and a molecular weight of 150.09. It is a colorless translucent crystal or white fine to coarse crystalline powder with a sour taste. L(+)-Tartaric Acid has optical activity with a specific rotation of +12° ~ +12.8°.
Application
1. Food Industry:
L(+)-Tartaric Acid is widely used as an acidulant in beverages and other foods, such as wine, soft drinks, candy, bread, and certain gel-based sweets.
2. Pharmaceutical Industry:
L(+)-Tartaric Acid is used as a chiral reagent for the synthesis of tartaric acid derivatives and as a chemical resolving agent for the resolution of DL-aminobutanol, an intermediate in the manufacture of anti-tuberculosis drugs.
3. Chemical Industry:
Leveraging its acidic properties,Tartaric Acid serves as a catalyst for the resin finishing of polyester fabrics and as a pH regulator in the production of oryzanol.
4. Electroplating and Metal Processing:
Tartaric Acid is used as a complexing agent, masking agent, and chelating agent in electroplating, desulfurization, acid washing, and chemical analysis.
5. Mirror Manufacturing Industry:
Tartaric Acid can be used as a reducing agent to control the rate of silver mirror formation, resulting in a uniform coating.
